Health Business Ideas

Are you considering starting a nutrition business? Interested in the food, diet, health, and nutrition niche? You should be. There is a lot of opportunity in the nutrition niche. You should start a nutrition business. In this business, I’m going to give you three health business ideas.

The key is to go niche. Don’t start a business about food, nutrition, or healthy eating, that is too broad. Instead, start a business about a subtopic within health and nutrition, such as food allergies, the Keto diet, or the vegan diet. Remember, the riches are in the niches.

In this blog, I’m going to give you three health business ideas so you can start your online business in the diet and nutrition niche. For more ideas, see our online business idea hub.

Idea #1: The Diet Niche (The Keto Diet)

Every diet you have ever followed could be your first business.

Kevin Davis, for example, combined his years of experience treating patients as a physician assistant and years of experience on the popular keto diet to build his business, OurKetogenicLife.com, an entire website teaching about the keto diet and how it can improve energy and weight loss.

Keto is an extremely popular diet. But Keto, in general, is very competitive. 1,830,000 people per month are searching for the keyword “Keto diet”. There are thousands of people competing in this space.

This is a case of finding the niche within the niche. With nearly 2 million people searching for this term per month, there is plenty of room for you to carve out a niche.

I talk about the process of finding a niche within a niche in my book Step One, where I also go deeper into the Keto example.

Let’s look at where you could carve out a nutrition niche in this space. Here are a couple of niches within the keto niche from my book:

  • Keto dessert recipes with 22,000 searches per month
  • Keto diet for beginners with 22,200 searches per month
  • Seven-day keto diet plan with 1,000 searches per month
  • Keto diet crock pot recipes – 210 searches per month
  • Vegetarian keto diet recipes – 480 searches per month
  • Keto diet Indian recipes – 390 searches per month

You could be the go-to resource for everything vegetarian Keto. This is a lot of opportunities to turn this into a blog niche business.

There are a lot of opportunities here. You can generate revenue as a vegetarian keto coach, you could write a book of keto dessert recipes, and you could create a membership site to share keto recipes. There are a lot of opportunities to find a niche within a niche here.

Dieting and dietary restrictions are prominent nutrition niches. Any diet you have ever been on could be your business. Just think of the possibilities within the diet nice:

  • Keto
  • Weight Watchers
  • Paleo
  • Vegetarian
  • Vegan
  • Pescatarian
  • Lactose intolerant
  • Peanut allergy

To name a few. There are so many variations of different diets, programs, and dietary restrictions. If you are following one, or face any restrictions in your diet, this can be a niche. This is a viable health business idea.

Idea #2: The Workout and Exercise Niche

The workout niche is very broad. But there are countless opportunities to find a niche within the workout niche.

This is another one of the most popular niche site ideas. The problem is, I see way too many people starting their business as a “workout guru” posting videos on Instagram trying to appeal to everyone. You need to be more niche than that. Look at Kayla Itsines and Shaun T as examples. They aren’t trying to appeal to everyone. Kayla has the Bikini Body Guide, a workout for women to get in shape with a 30-minute workout. Shaun T created the Insanity program, a crazy intense program to get you ripped with one workout video per day. They are not appealing to everyone, but they appeal to a specific target market where they are very successful. Choose something specific, no one is going to pay you for posting workout videos on your Instagram.

Here are a couple of niches within the workout niche:

  • Workout exercise – think powerlifting, dancing, bodyweight workouts, and running. Running is a huge niche. You could be the go-to resource for everything related to running a half marathon race.
  • Workout programs – think Insanity, P90x, and Peloton. Be careful with these, you don’t want to infringe on any copyrights or trademarks. But you could become an affiliate and recommend people to the Insanity workout and coach people to get through the program.
  • Workout gear – think lifting gloves, resistance bands, pullup bars, and ab wheels. You could design and sell a better lifting glove, or you can be an affiliate recommending the best pullup bars.
  • Fitness – this topic is a little broad. There are a lot of fitness coaches, you can find a niche with fitness such as bodybuilding, burning fat, sports training, flexibility, and injury recovery. There are a lot of niche opportunities in fitness.

The workout niche is huge. There is lots of room for you to carve out a niche within this niche. Think about what you specialize in with your workouts. Do you run marathons? Do you know how to pack on muscle with powerlifting? Do you compete in bikini competitions? There’s your niche. That is your health business idea.

Idea #3: Food (Vegan Soup)

Just like any diet or workout could be the topic of your business, any food could be your business.

Take vegan soup as an example. 8,100 people per month are searching Google for the term “vegan soup” and almost no one is building a business around this topic.

I looked deeper into the vegan soup niche and found the following subtopics within the vegan soup niche with high search volume and low competition including:

  • Best vegan soup recipe
  • Vegan Mexican soup
  • Vegetarian split pea soup recipe
  • Vegan soup brands

People are searching for Vegan soup, but there are not many websites focused on this niche. There is not a lot of competition here. There is a niche website opportunity here. Based on this research, I know people want vegan soup and they want recipes to make their own vegan soup. You can be the go-to vegan soup expert and build an entire business in the vegan soup niche. This is your health business idea.

Nutrition Niche: How to Make Money

There is an infinite number of ways you can generate revenue from an online business in the nutrition niche. Here are a couple of ways to generate revenue with your health business ideas:

Conclusion: Health Business Ideas

There are endless opportunities in the nutrition niche. Diet, exercise, food, etcetera…any nutrition topic can be the topic of your business. The key is to go niche. Don’t start a generate nutrition business, start a business on a niche nutrition topic. This is how you go about starting a nutrition business. This is how you build a profitable business

As a recap, my health business ideas are:

  • Diets – Keto, vegan, allergens, Weight Watchers.
  • Exercise – Insanity, P90x, workout gloves.
